Sculpture Studies in Italy....
Artist, Ron Mineo, has led several sculpture study trips to Italy, where for approximately two and half weeks, up to 14 of his students work on sculptural projects in the native marble at a professional studio located in the town of Carrara, Italy.
Carrara, Italy, is a small town located on the border of Tuscany, only two miles from the Mediterranean Sea. It is nestled in the Apuan Mountains, and is rich in history and equisite scenic beauty. The local people are very friendly, gentle and good humored, and are always glad to help visitors find their way around town.
Carrara has become the mecca for sculptors, and many of today's master artists visit and work their regularly. Each year a grand sculpture competition is held in the village piazza. It is home to the World's finest marble quarries, which are often visited during the two and a half week stay.
