The current Public Works Project for Ron Mineo is a twenty foot long fiberglass relief sculpture that will adorn the front of the Goldens Bridge Firehouse,
in Goldens Bridge, NY. It was commissioned to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the Firehouse and will be installed in June of 2009. Drawings were submitted to the officials of the Firehouse and
a specific design was chosen. A scale model in clay was created and approved. Then an easel was constructed to facilitate the large scale sculpture in styrofoam and clay. The clay sculpture took many months to complete and refine.
It was then moved to a fiberglass foundry where a fiberglass mold was layered on the clay sculpture and eventually a fiberglass cast was taken from that mold. After some refinements, Ron is currently in the process of airbrushing high quality
paints on the cast to create an exciting and vibrant finish. A final coat of clear fiberglass is going to be sprayed on the sculpture and the piece will be ready for transport to Goldens Bridge for installation. Many steps were left out
of this description however monthly updates, with photos of Ron's progress, will be posted on this web page. So keep checking in!
